Senate President Bukola Saraki has today release a total sum of 50million Naira to Magaji/Alagua traditional rulers in Kwara state.
The Director General, ABS Mandate Office, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi who represented the Senate President said Saraki had earlier set up a committee to address issue of nonpayment of arrears of the tradition ruler for over twenty months, saying the economy downtown from the federal government affected the state government in paying the salary.
During the exercise, he charged the royal fathers in the state to educate members of their communities on the current economic situation in the country and the measures the state government had put in place to remedy the situation.
Alhaji Musa Abdullahi also urged the traditional rulers as custodians of tradition and culture to continue to support the state government in order to ensure the prosperity of Kwara State residents.
In his remark, the Chairman ABS Elders Council, Alhaji Musa Abdulraheem Olesin, while regretting the non payment of their salaries, promised that the delay in the payment of salaries of certain categories of workers in the state would soon be a thing of the past in the shortest possible time.
According to him, the Senate President decide to intervene due to the shortfall in allocation of the local and state governments from the federal level.
Also contributing, the Director Publicity, ABS Office, Alhaji Abdullahi Oganija noted that the state government would continue to pay more attention to the welfare of traditional rulers to ensure better society.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Bale Apado, T. S Ajibola and Daudu Ile-Apa, Alhaji Yusuf Saliu appreciating the effort of the Senate President and promised their total support to Doctor Saraki dynasty.
