Airstrikes kill bandits’ kingpin, 45 others in Zamfara, Katsina

The Nigeria Air Force in Zamfara State has neutralized a leader of bandits, who’s popularly called Dogo Rabe and over 45 members of his camp in Zamfara forests.

The men of the Nigeria Air Force bombed the bandits’ camps situated within communities.

According to a security source, the affected areas were between the Zurmi and Birnin Magaji areas in Zamfara State, and Jibia in Katsina State.

The Informant247 reported that some days before the bombarding the camps, a similar attack was launched on the camp that which belong to another kingpin of bandits, Bello Turji in the Fakai community of the State.

In Turji’s camp, no fewer than 22 bandits were killed, while Turji ran away.

A source within the area, Abdulbaqi Aliyu, said that the recent attack has neutralized no fewer than 40 bandits in the Birnin Magaji area of the State.

“The Nigerian Air force launched an attack at Sabon Birini Dan Ali forest, in Birini Magaji Local Government Area, which resulted in the killing of over 40 of the bandits”, he said.

The attack happened when the gangs were reported to be loading rustled cattle.

“It was not clear how many people were killed in that operation because the bandits gathered at Dan Karami’s house for a meeting. It is unclear if he was among those killed,” the source said.

The Air Force spokesman in Katsina State, Abdul Olaitan, has not made official statement as he did not pick telephone calls from journalists.
