The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Dame Pauline Tallen, has made declaration of intention to contest for the Plateau South Senatorial seat in the 2023 elections.
Her declaration has inflated the number of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet members who are seeking different positions in 2023.
The minister was set to challenge the incumbent Governor Simon Lalong, who was reported to have a similar interest in the senatorial seat. Lalong will conclude his two terms next year.
The current senator, Prof. Nora Dadu’ut, was reported to have concluded not to recontest for the position in 2023.
The minister had before now served as a councillor, commissioner, and deputy governor.
