ADC will take over power from APC in 2027 – Atiku boasts
Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has confidently asserted that the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the emerging opposition coalition party, is poised to wrest power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Speaking during the unveiling and inauguration of the State ADC Executive Council in Ado Ekiti, Atiku, represented by Prof. Bayode Fakunle, criticized the absence of ideology among political parties in Nigeria. He emphasized that the ADC arrives with a clear ideological framework aimed at addressing the nation’s economic challenges and more.
“Atiku stated, “ADC was launched just about three weeks ago and within two weeks, it has become the most dominant party in the country and all other parties are already jittery. It is a party with ideology, peopled by those that are ready to save Nigeria, because Nigeria should not and can never be a one-party state.”
At the event, attended by former leaders and prominent members from various political factions including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling APC, Atiku echoed the inclusivity of the ADC, proclaiming it as a party that welcomes all Nigerians: “By the grace of God, this party will take over the leadership of this country come 2027.”
The gathering also saw the presentation of ADC membership identity cards to key figures, including former Ekiti deputy governor Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka, who now serves as the Ekiti State ADC Stakeholders Coordinator. Hon. Omolayo Ilesanmi and Hon. Dare Adekolu were unveiled as the state chairman and deputy chairman, respectively.
In his remarks, Ilesanmi reiterated the ADC’s commitment to uniting for the upcoming 2026 governorship election and 2027 general election, stating, “We believe that through unity, discipline, and dedication, we can deliver a government that truly serves the people, champions development, and promotes good governance.”
Eleka highlighted the ADC’s mission to rescue Nigeria from the grip of misgovernance and lack of accountability, calling it a platform for like-minded individuals united against corruption and the consolidation of power within a single party.
Emphasizing the need for real change, Bejide and Omole echoed sentiments regarding the current government’s failure to address the welfare of the masses, reinforcing the ADC’s vision for a transparent and accountable governance structure in Nigeria.
