970 IDPs, widows, youth to receive skills, starter packs as Abibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home announces empowerment in Kwara, Abuja

No fewer than 970 vulnerable Nigerians are set to benefit from a livelihood empowerment initiative sponsored by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) under the Transformative Skills and Livelihood Empowerment Programme.

The programme, to be implemented by Abibakr As-Sidiq Philanthropic Home (ASPH), will target disadvantaged populations across the Federal Capital Territory and Kwara State.

The President of ASPH, Mallam Abdulrazzaq Ibrahim Salman, made this known in a statement issued in Ilorin on Monday.

According to him, the intervention will focus on internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, widows, unemployed youth, and individuals living below the poverty line within communities in the Federal Capital Territory and Kwara State.

He explained that the initiative is designed to promote sustainable economic independence through the provision of practical vocational and entrepreneurial skills.

Beneficiaries will undergo hands-on training in high-demand areas such as tailoring and garment production, catering and food processing, ICT and digital literacy, photography, alongside other locally relevant trades.

Upon completion of the training, participants will receive starter packs, tools, and operational support to enable them to immediately begin income-generating ventures.

Mallam Abdulrazzaq noted that the programme prioritises long-term empowerment over short-term relief.

He said the initiative aims to restore dignity, strengthen resilience, and reduce economic vulnerability among disadvantaged populations.

The ASPH President further disclosed that the project will be executed in collaboration with relevant federal and Kwara State authorities to ensure transparency and fairness in the selection and verification of beneficiaries.

He added that priority will be given to individuals and households facing severe economic hardship and displacement.

The organisation also expressed appreciation to KSrelief for its sustained humanitarian support to Nigeria, describing the initiative as a significant contribution to poverty reduction, youth empowerment, and economic growth in the targeted communities.

Implementation is expected to commence after the completion of beneficiary nomination and verification processes, with monitoring mechanisms to ensure sustainability.
