A 45-year-old, Ojo Akerele has been arrested by detectives from the Ondo State Police Command over alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl.
Akerele was accused of using N100 to lure the small girl to an uncompleted building where she was allegedly raped.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect in a statement.
“The victim (names withheld) aged 10, was lured to an uncompleted building by the suspect (Akerele) where he had carnal knowledge of her, after which he gave her N100.
“The suspect claimed that the girl usually comes with her friend to collect N100 from him daily and that while she was asking for the money, he drew her closer and made out with her,” Mrs Odunlami added in the statement.
In another development, the spokesperson also revealed how the command arrested a suspect of robbery, Jimoh Joseph, who put on military camouflage to rob his victims: Messrs Emmanuel Ikusewa and Omolayo Akinmuleya and robbed them of their valuables and property.
She disclosed that 2 victims were dispossessed of N1, 203,000 after the purchase of fuel at a filling station in Ikirun, Osun State.
“The victims were handcuffed and a sum of N500, 000 was transferred from one of the victims’ accounts. Also N301,000 was transferred to Paylon Net account; N79,000 was transferred to First Bank account and N500,000 was transferred to an unknown bank,” she explained.
He said that the suspect also dispossessed the victims of 2 iPhone Promax 13/14 worth N1,400,000, a Rose gold earring valued at N350,000 and a cash sum of N73,000 at gunpoint.
She said the suspects would be prosecuted as soon as the investigation was concluded.
