….seeks stakholders support

An aspirant for the House of Representatives seat representing Irepodun, Ekiti, Isin and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, Isaac Omogbenle Adeyemi, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 election, pledging quality representation and renewed commitment to the development of the constituency.

Adeyemi made the declaration in Ilorin on Tuesday at the official flag-off of his campaign, where he addressed supporters and party members from Ekiti local government area of Kwara State.

He recalled that despite winning the primary in 2019, circumstances beyond his control denied him the party’s ticket. According to him, the then deputy governor of Oyo State who supervised the primary submitted his name as the winner to the national leadership of the party.

Adeyemi explained that although his name was forwarded to the then National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, the outcome was later altered due to the influence of powerful political interests within the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He, however, urged his supporters to move beyond the events of 2019 and focus on the future.

“2019 is gone and we are now in a new era. I thank God that many of those who were against me in the past have now encouraged and promised to support my ambition,” he said.

The aspirant emphasized that the Ekiti axis of the constituency deserves the opportunity to produce the next representative at the National Assembly, noting that discussions about political balance are already ongoing among the constituent communities.

Adeyemi, a chartered accountant and tax practitioner with over four decades of professional experience, said his background would be an advantage if elected.

He explained that his experience as a consultant on several World Bank-supported projects and federal government financial programmes would enable him contribute meaningfully to legislative processes, particularly in areas relating to finance and governance.

According to him, his professional expertise would also complement the economic policies and development agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He further stated that his age and experience place him in a position to provide effective leadership and mentorship within the legislative space.

Adeyemi also highlighted his strong connection with the constituency, noting that he has spent most of his time in Kwara State since 2019, which makes him accessible to the people.

“My business base is in Ilorin, so I cannot abandon my people. I will always remain close and accessible to the constituency,” he said.

Outlining his vision, the aspirant promised to focus on addressing insecurity and attracting more federal government institutions and developmental projects to the constituency if elected.

He assured party members that he would serve as a good ambassador of the constituency at the National Assembly and deliver effective representation.

Adeyemi also reminded supporters of his previous political role as Deputy Director of Contact and Mobilization for the Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign in the North Central region, a position he held with the support of Kwara State
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

He concluded by appealing to party delegates and supporters to back his ambition during the party primary, assuring them that their votes would count.

The aspirant also promised to visit various wards across the constituency in the coming weeks to further engage party members ahead of the primaries.
