2027: Moro traditional leaders decries marginalization, seeks reps seat

Traditional rulers and community leaders in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State have appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to support the emergence of a candidate from Moro for the House of Representatives seat.

In a letter jointly signed by community leaders and addressed to the President, APC National Chairman, the National Working Committee (NWC), the Kwara State governor, the state APC chairman, and other stakeholders, the leaders argued that Moro has remained loyal to the APC and progressive politics but has not been adequately compensated politically.

The appeal was signed by Chairman of Baale of Moro Forum, Chief Mathew Alabi; Barrister Bolakale Yusuf who is the Baale Bode Saadu and Ibrahim Adebara who represents Oba of Jebba as a signatory.

The letter, titled “An Appeal for Moro Local Government to Federal House of Representative,” stated that the local government has consistently supported the progressive camp and has not lost an election to the opposition since 1999.

According to the leaders, despite the area’s unwavering support and bloc votes for the APC over the years, Moro has yet to produce a representative in the House of Representatives since the beginning of the current democratic dispensation.

They lamented that while other local governments within the constituency, including Baruten, Kaiama, Edu and Patigi, have at different times benefited from Senate and House of Representatives positions, Moro has been left out.

“This is therefore an appeal to all the stakeholders to take a sympathetic look at our situation so that, for once, we can have the representative in the Federal House of Representatives,” the letter stated.

The community leaders also appealed to traditional rulers in Edu and Patigi to support their demand in the spirit of fairness and equity.
