Appeal court directs ASUU to go back to class immediately

The Court of Appeal has directed the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to put an end to its industrial strike immediately.

The court has ordered the staff union to obey the ruling of the lower court and put an end to the industrial action immediately, pending the time substantive suit would be determined.

The court has given ASUU the ultimatum of seven days to file the appeal following the obedience to the ruling of the lower court.

The Informant247 recalls that the National Industrial Court, Sept. 21, directed the academic staff union to put an end to the industrial strike.

The court has given the directive following a notice that’s filed by the Nigerian Government telling the lecturers to go back to classrooms.

While ruling on the interlocutory injunction, Justice Polycarp Hamman, the trial judge, has compelled obedience on ASUU to discontinue the industrial action till the court determines the suit filed against ASUU by the Nigerian Government.
