The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Kwara North, Dr. Kolo Baba Jiya, has accused Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of neglecting the zone and attempting to divide its people for political advantage.

The candidate, who is also a member of The Otoge Progressives (TOP), made the remarks at a political gathering in Kwara while speaking on the 2027 elections.

He said Kwara North had several competent political leaders capable of representing the interests of the zone, arguing that residents should not support candidates he described as incapable of delivering development to the senatorial district.

“We have a lot of competent people in Kwara North. Governor AbdulRazaq should not come and divide our people. They gave the governorship to someone that is not competent; how do we expect to support him in Kwara North?” he said.

The PDP candidate accused the governor of being more interested in dividing and weakening political opponents than developing the state.

He said Kwara North was facing serious challenges and questioned what the AbdulRazaq administration had done to improve the situation in the zone.

“Kwara North is in a very bad situation. What has Governor AbdulRazaq done for our people? Almost all of our people have run out of town,” he said.

He also criticised the senator representing Kwara North, Danladi Sankara, accusing him of failing to adequately represent the interests of the zone because of his alleged political ambition.

According to him, Danladi had been unable to demand major projects and federal interventions for Kwara North or speak strongly on behalf of the people.

He also questioned the suitability of a politician seeking to govern the state who, according to him, had never visited Patigi.

“Someone wants to be governor and he has never visited Patigi to commiserate with them after the many bandits attacks. How do you expect my people to support such a person?” he asked.

The candidate urged voters in Kwara North to see the 2027 election as an opportunity to elect a representative who would use his position to attract federal projects and development to the district.

“Support me so that I can bring development from Abuja. Nobody can dare stop me from bringing projects to Kwara like AbdulRazaq has been doing to the lawmakers,” he said.

He further alleged that the APC’s choice of candidate was influenced by the governor’s desire to have a loyal political ally who would protect his interests.

“If APC had given the ticket to Sadiq Umar or Manko, we wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t be here. But he decided to give it to his stooge who will do his bidding. That can’t work,” he said.

He called on Kwara North voters to remain vigilant and unite behind candidates they believe can deliver development to the zone.

“This is an opportunity for Kwara North. We must not lose it,” he said.
