President Muhamadu Buhari has said that he will work with the stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) towards the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his successor come 2023.

Buhari made this revelation in his brief speech at the inauguration of APC presidential campaign, Tuesday in Jos.

“The party has taken a stand and we are going to support and campaign for him to be elected president of Nigeria.

“I am not going to read a long speech,  I am here to hand over our party flag to him,” he said.

The APC National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, revealed while giving his speech that the APC has the honour of welcoming the president to the flag off of the campaign.

He added that the presence of Buhari was a show of his commitment to the affairs of the party and all its candidates.

The chairman also said that the achievements of the president have outnumbered those of his predecessors.

“I ask you all to stand up and applaud Buhari for a job well done.

“Our party has performed creditably well, we promise change and we delivered change,” he said.

“We must not do anything that will stain the banner. It will stain when we fail to be good ambassadors and faithful servants of the party.

“We stain the banner when we do things that negate free, fair and credible elections,” he emphasised.

“It is not over until it is over, until the trophy of victory is in our bag, we will not rest”.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan gave an assurance to President Buhari and Tinubu that all members of the National Assembly have shown the readiness to back presidential flagbearer and his running mate.
