2 drowned in Asa-River, bodies recovered by Kwara fire service
The Kwara State Fire Service, on Friday, has recovered the bodies of two boys who drowned in Asa-River at Laola Salasi Street, Mubo area, Ilorin.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday evening at about 16:36hrs (04:36pm), when one Alhaji Eleja suddenly called on the fire service personnel to the scene of the incident.
According to a report, it was confirmed that the two victims went with their colleagues to swim at the river before two of them eventually drowned.
The victims identified as Damilare 12years old and Kamaldeen 14years old were confirmed dead after their bodies were recovered by the firemen. The report added that both of them are from Ile-laru compound, Sabo-line area Ilorin, in the State capital.
Meanwhile, the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, advised parents, teachers and guardians to keep monitoring their children’s movement, most especially during this holiday period to avoid such occurrences.
However, the bodies of the victims were handed over to their father, Alhaji Jamiu before leaving the scene of the incident.
