10 killed, 7 injured in Lagos-Ibadan auto crash
No fewer than ten persons have been killed in an accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Informant247 gathered that the accident, which happened on Tuesday morning at about 5 am at the Kara turning, Ogun State, towards the interchange on the highway, involved an Iveco truck marked KRA 80 XA and a Hiace bus with registration number FKY 898 YF.
According to Florence Okpe, the spokesperson of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), while confirming the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, 18 men were involved in the accident, out of which seven persons sustained injuries, 10 died while one was unhurt.
Okpe attributed the accident to speeding on the bus driver’s part, leading to losing control of the wheels.
“The bus rammed into the truck that was about negotiating the turning,” she said.
Okpe said that the injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital, Mowe, for medical attention while the deceased were deposited at Idera Morgue, Sagamu.
She quoted the Sector Commander, Anthony Uga, to have described the accident as avoidable if necessary cautionary measures were adhered to.
