You don’t have power to expel me – Nnamani tells PDP
The former Governor of Enugu State, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has said he’s still a member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
This came following his expulsion from the party by National Working Committee (NWC).
Senator Chimaroke Nnamani (PDP-Enugu) says he is still in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in spite of his purported suspension by the National Working Committee (NWC).
The Informant247 earlier reported that Senator Chimaroke Nnamani (PDP-Enugu) and 6 six others have been expelled by the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP).
The development was confirmed in a statement released by the spokesperson of the party, Debo Ologunagba, on Friday.
The federal lawmaker has reacted to the news of his expulsion from the party in a statement on Friday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
He said the committee does not have powers to remove him from the party.
He said the party did not pass through due process while carrying out his suspension from the party, as the decision of the party was not in accordance with the provisions of the party’s Constitution.
“The NWC lacks powers to suspend or expel me from the party as a member of the National Assembly,” he said.
He added that the party did not give him the opportunity to say his mind or even hear his side of the story before taking disciplinary action against him.
“Your proposed disciplinary hearing of Feb. 8 is wholly erected on illegality and your committee equally has no powers under the Constitution of the party to invite me for the purpose of entertaining any disciplinary matter against me,” Nnamani said.
