A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki, alongside the member representing Ekiti, Irepodun, Isin, and Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, Honourable Raheem Tunji Olowuyi (commonly called Ajuloopin), and several other distinguished Nigerians, narrowly escaped a potentially tragic incident after their private jet crash-landed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The Informant247 had earlier reported the incident which occurred on Friday at approximately 11 a.m. local time at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport.
The jet, registered under the number N580KR, veered off the runway and landed in the nearby bush.
Honourable Raheem Tunji Olowuyi (Ajuloopin), in a statement posted on his official Instagram page, expressed gratitude for the passengers’ safety, attributing it to divine intervention.
He wrote, “Alhamdulillah! Just survived an air crash at Ibadan airport. The plane skipped the runway amid bush burning, in what could have been devastating; however, Allah’s intervention spared all 12 passengers.”
The incident comes amid concerns about aviation safety in the region, as the Honourable Minister of Power was reportedly involved in a similar averted crash last month.
Olowuyi also mentioned another recent incident involving the spouse of a friend at the same airport, showing the need for a thorough investigation and immediate rehabilitation of the airport to prioritize safety.
