Days before the end of his tenure, Yahaya Bello initiates transition: Announces new cabinet for Kogi State
Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has ushered in a new phase as his administration nears its conclusion, appointing a fresh cabinet to facilitate the transition for the incoming government led by Governor-elect Usman Ododo, set to take charge on January 27.
The dissolution of the existing cabinet affected heads of agencies, parastatals, and other appointees, with some being reappointed alongside the introduction of new members.
The governor’s media aide, Onogwu Muhammed, confirmed the announcement following the state’s Executive Council Meeting.
Governor Bello emphasized that this strategic move aims to recalibrate the governance trajectory and mark the beginning of a comprehensive transition process as his ‘New Direction Administration’ gracefully concludes its tenure.
The affected officials are instructed to ensure a thorough handover process, transferring all pertinent government documents, property, and materials to the designated authorities.
Officials retained in key positions include the Secretary to the Government of Kogi, Mrs. Ayoade Folashade-Arike, State Security Adviser Mr. Sunday Faleke, and others, acknowledging their commitment and patriotism during their tenure.
New appointees, essential for the state’s vacant positions, include Habibat Oyiza Tijani as the State’s Accountant-General, Abdulrazaq Muhammed as the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, and others strategically appointed to strengthen the state’s security architecture.
Governor Bello urged the newly appointed officials to prioritize efficiency, competence, and an unwavering pursuit of progress in their duties, emphasizing the need for total commitment and dedication to the state’s welfare and advancement.
