It all began when the Oyo State government proudly announced the selection of Pastor Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso on September 8, 2023.

However, the announcement was met with fierce opposition from one of the contestants, Kabiru Laoye, who filed a lawsuit, asserting the illegitimacy of Olaoye’s appointment.

The courtroom battle escalated further as the court dismissed three petitions challenging the new Soun’s appointment, filed by Prince Taofiq Laoye, one of the accusers.
