Dapo Abiodun 1

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has threatened to shut down any commercial bank that rejects old naira notes.

The Informant247 understands that Supreme Court earlier today Wednesday February 15, 2023 maintained that the old naira notes still remain legal tender in the country.

The Governor took to Twitter to send message of warning to commercial banks not to reject the old naira notes from the people.

He said any commercial bank that refuses to collect the old naira notes from the people would be shut down by the state government.

This came following the adjournment of the matter on the naira swap policy put forward by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) till Wednesday, February 22, by the highest court in the country, the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

The Ogun State governor wrote “We will shut down any Commercial bank operating in Ogun state that refuses to accept old naira notes.”
