‘We lost our sources of income while in captivity’ — Kaduna train attack victims demand compensation from FG

The victims of the Kaduna train attack have demanded compensation from the federal government to make them start a better life.

This came hours after the resumption of train services by the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC.

The Informant247 earlier reported that the Abuja-Kaduna train will begin operation on Monday, says the Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC.

The NRC said the train service will resume activities with only two return services.

This development was announced 8 months after the train services were suspended following an attack on the train by some unidentified bandits.

9 passengers lost their lives during the attack.

The victims while addressing newsmen lamented that many of them lost their means of survival, when they were in captivity.

“So, many of us have lost what we are doing and our source of income. As a citizen of this country, which I am very proud to be, I am expecting more from them (the government),” said one of the victims Mariam Idris. “I am expecting them to come to our aid.”

The victims also revealed that the federal government has failed to fulfill its promise made to them.

They added that a lot of them are depressed, and psychologically affected, which make it very important for them to seek medical care.

“Actually, they did collect our contacts that they would get back to us. But till now, nobody has said anything,” Mariam added.

“We are just living by His mercy because as of the time our family members realised ourselves in this mess, they have gone through difficulties – let’s be sincere.”
