VP, Osinbajo reaches Nairobi for Ruto’s presidential inauguration

The Nigerian Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo has reached Nairobi, in Kenya to represent Nigeria at the presidential inauguration of the country.

The Informant247 had earlier reported that the Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) will represent the country in Kenya for the inauguration of William Ruto as the 5th President scheduled for today, Tuesday.

The event, which takes place on Tuesday at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi, will be the country’s fifth presidential inauguration.

The Nigeria’s second in command was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, by former Governor of Kwale County, Salim Mvurya, Nigerian Ambassador to Kenya, Yusuf Yumusa and other senior government personalities.

The Deputy President, William Ruto was on Aug. 15, declared winner of the presidential election in Kenya.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman, Wafula Chebukati, declared that Ruto had gathered almost 7.18 million votes or 50.49 per cent, against his close contender, Raila Odinga who polled 6.94 million or 48.85 per cent.

The Supreme Court of Kenya, on Sept. 5, upheld the electoral victory of Ruto.

The Nigerian vice-president was followed to Kenya by Amb. Zubairu Dada, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Sen. Babafemi Ojudu, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters.

Nigeria and Kenya share very long standing diplomatic relations.
