Shagaya Foundation organises first annual summit in Ilorin
Kwara Poly wins inter-institution pitch as Unilorin takes second position
The Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Adebo Ogundoyin has urged youths to stop complaining on social media and get involved in politics stating that every youth has the mandate to be involved in selecting their leaders.
Ogundoyin said this, on Saturday, at the Salman Shagaya Foundation’s first annual summit tagged “Voices of Tomorrow”, hosted in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The summit, themed “Responsibilities and Expectations that come with Influence” was a panel session, organized, in honour of Alh. Kabir Shagaya, Technical Assistant on Investment to the Kwara State Governor to mark his birthday celebration.

The Speaker stated that the event is to showcase the voices of tomorrow, adding that the voices are not just one voice but different voices coming together to have a common objective.
Ogundoyin said, “The youths must stop being politically neutral and stop complaining on social media. It is time for them to be involved in politics. Every single youth has it as a mandate to be involved in selecting their leaders.”
Speaking at the event, Alh. Hakeem Sagaya who represented the Salman Shagaya Foundation said that the foundation was established to promote religious and ethnic harmony and invest in the people.
He added that the foundation has been empowering both the young and old people through education, cash empowerment and other areas.
“We are here to celebrate the youths and to speak on hard work, dedication, experience in various careers and generate ideas which can be shared together,” Shagaya said.
However, the Kwara State Commissioner of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Barr. Senior Sulyman enjoined the youths to imbibe the lessons from the program and ensure to take the future in their hands.

Giving the highlights of the inter institution pitch on the topic; “why your institution should be the choice of secondary school students”, the Kwara State polytechnic won the sum of N500,000 as the winner, University of Ilorin won a cash prize of N250,000 as the first runner-up, while Kwara State University, Malete and Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin won N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.
Other dignitaries within and outside the state present at the event are the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi represented by Hon. Haliru Danbaba; Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor, Mall. Rafiu Ajakaye, among others.
