FG Palliatives: ‘6,000 beneficiaries’, Muktar Shagaya begins rice distribution

Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, the dedicated representative of Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, has commenced the distribution of rice palliatives as part of a broader initiative to support constituents.

The distribution, held at his constituency office in Ilorin, aims to provide relief to 6,000 individuals across Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency.

In a bid to ensure transparency and nonpartisanship, Hon. Muktar Shagaya had previously organized stakeholders’ engagement before the distribution of the Federal Government palliatives.

The committee overseeing the distribution plans to share at least 1,200 (50kg) bags of rice, with each constituent receiving 10kg.

Represented by Alhaji Muftau Akanbi Oke, the Constituency Manager, Hon. Shagaya emphasized that these palliatives are a temporary measure to alleviate the effects of rising costs and the removal of fuel subsidies, particularly impacting the most vulnerable in society.

He stated, “The true value of today’s event is not just in the number of bags of rice distributed but in the compassion driving our actions. We are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

Beneficiaries were identified through nonpartisan means, engaging with critical stakeholders and utilizing evidence-based registers of vulnerable individuals.

The distribution will be carried out according to a carefully planned timetable and logistics.

Hon. Muktar Shagaya also expressed solidarity with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, emphasizing their commitment to improving the lives of the people of Kwara State.

The beneficiaries of the palliative, including Persons living with disabilities; Market-men and women group; Youth and Students Groups; NANS; ASKOMP and NUJ; Religious and Traditional Leaders; Transportation Workers; Political Groups; Non-Governmental Organizations; Security Agencies; Joint Assemblies; Community Development Associations; Igbo Community; Non-indigenous Groups; and Artisans groups amongst others.

The president of the Kwara State Artisans Congress, Alhaji Jimoh Adeshina, and the epresentatives of Persons with Disabilities praised Hon. Shagaya for his transparent and accountable approach, acknowledging the impact of this bold initiative on the welfare of the citizenry.

Alhaji Adeshina said, “we know the cost of a bag of rice in the market today. So, we thank the Federal Government and Hon. Muktar Shagaya for this initiative. We really appreciate Shagaya’s passion in improving the welfare of the citizenry,” Adeshina said.

“We are grateful to him for following the step of the federal government for this bold initiative. We’re very grateful.” Some beneficiaries took turns to commend the government for the palliatives.

Stakeholders engagement: Muktar Shagaya drives transparency

In an effort to uphold transparency and ensure an effective distribution process, Representative Muktar Tolani Shagaya of Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency took proactive steps on Saturday by engaging the stakeholders on the arrival of the palliatives and distribution modalities.

The primary objective of this initiative is to distribute Federal Government palliative items, specifically 1,200 bags of rice, to constituents in Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency.

Recognizing the importance of clear communication, Representative Shagaya said that he remained committed to keeping constituents well-informed throughout the process.

Amid confusion arising from a delay in the distribution by lawmakers, Shagaya demonstrated his dedication to transparency by convening a stakeholders’ engagement at the constituency office in Ilorin.
