Visitors commend Ilorin’s urban renewal efforts under governor AbdulRazaq

As Nigerians travel for the Christmas season, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has drawn attention for its ongoing transformation under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Visitors to the city have expressed satisfaction, praising infrastructure improvements while calling for more widespread development.

Faith Awofadeju, a traveler from Kano, acknowledged the improved road network and cleaner environment in the state capital but suggested expanding the infrastructure upgrades to other areas.

“Ilorin is improving in terms of roads and cleanliness. The government is trying its best, but the ongoing developments should also be extended to other parts of the capital,” she said.

Similarly, Engr. Onoja Olushola noted the progress made but emphasized the need for timely completion of ongoing projects. “It is a great improvement, but we are still expecting to see the finishes. We wish them more effort,” he remarked.

For Abiodun Babatunde, a visitor from Ibadan, the city’s transformation was a pleasant surprise. “There is so much work going on, like infrastructure. Even this post office area is very different—I almost got lost yesterday. The governor has done a lot, but residents must adapt to changes like new parking rules. The government should continue these efforts as people still expect more,” he observed.

Mr. Adebisi Sunday, who traveled from Lagos, acknowledged the challenges of economic constraints but appreciated the visible progress. “Despite the economic situation, there are improvements that benefit citizens. I urge motorists to drive carefully and the government to sustain these efforts. There’s always room for more development,” he said.

Femi Raphael, visiting from Abuja, highlighted the potential economic benefits of the ongoing urban renewal. “The governor’s efforts in infrastructure are commendable and will positively impact the lives of residents,” he said.

As Ilorin continues to evolve, the feedback from visitors indicate a shared sentiment: while progress is evident, sustained development and inclusivity remain key priorities for the government. Residents and visitors alike hope for continued efforts to make Ilorin a model city in Nigeria.
