Village head killed in Niger community crisis
Mohammed Abdulsafur, the village head of Lambata in Gurara local government area of Niger State has been murdered during a clash that ensued among youths on Saturday evening.
The Informant247 gathered the deceased died as a result of the injuries inflicted on him by youths during the attack.
The reason for the attack remains unknown as it was learnt he youths invaded the residence of the village head and attacked him.
However, The Niger State Government confirmed the death of the village head, while imposing a curfew in Lambata community from Sunday till further notice.
Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in a statement by, said the curfew would be from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, adding the action would assist the security agencies to stabilise the situation in the area, save lives and ensure restoration of law and order.
“Government condemn in strong terms the violence and act of lawlessness that has occurred in Lambata town”.
The late village head, who retired as the State Control Officer in the Leprosy and Tuberculosis programme, is survived by a wife and 13 children.
