The Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has spoken against the killing of the Catholic Priest in Kaffin Koro, in Paikoro local government area of the state.
The Informant247 earlier reported that Rev Father Isaac Achi, the Priest of St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church in Kafin-koro in Paikoro local government area of Niger, was burnt to death in the early hours of Sunday.
The chairman of the Christian organization, Most Rev Bulus Dauwa Yohanna in a statement released in Minna, the capital of the state, described the scenario as a dastard act.
The Chairman sympathized with the catholic diocese of Minna and Christian faithfuls in the state.
He condoled with the family of the victim and prayed that his soul should rest in peace.
The chairman therefore advised the government, and the security agencies to intensify their efforts in addressing issues of insecurity in the state.
He said the attacks against the cleric should be investigated and that the perpetrators of the crime should be brought to justice.
“Enough of the attacks and wanton killings of innocent Nigeria citizens.
“One of the primary responsibilities of government is to protect lives and property of the people you govern.”
The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello also condemned the killing of a Catholic priest at Kaffin Koro, Paikoro Local Government Area of the state.
The Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noël-Berje, while reacting to the gruesome killing of the cleric, in a statement released on Sunday, said the incident was ungodly and inhumane.
The Governor said invasion of a religious centre to kill someone was the worst stage of terrorists attacks.
The Governor however ordered the full scaled manhunt to arrest the killers of the religious leader, saying drastic steps need be taken to bring an end to the ongoing criminality.
