US rejects Israel’s ‘reoccupation’ plan of Gaza

Now in its 32nd day, Israel has reportedly killed at least 10,328 Palestinians, including 4,237 children and 2,719 women in the ongoing Isreal-Hamas war.

Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remark that his country would take overall security responsibility in the Gaza territory, the US has declared that it does not support a “reoccupation” of Gaza by Israel.

State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters that the US does not support such an idea.

“Generally speaking, we do not support the reoccupation of Gaza and neither does Israel. Secretary (of State Antony) Blinken was fairly clear about that during his travels as well,” he said.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has reportedly told Prime Minister Netanyahu that 3-day fighting pause could help secure release of hostages.

It was reported on Tuesday that Biden had a call with Netanyahu aand while citing two US and Israeli officials who had been held hostage by the Hamas, moored the idea of 3-day fighting pause.
