Unknown gunmen demand N30m to release kidnapped businesswoman in Kogi

Those who kidnapped Mrs Funke Ayodele, the owner of a popular supermarket, ‘Cheapest Ladies and Kiddies Place’, Lokoja, have called the victim’s family on Friday, requesting the sum of N30m as ransom to effect her release.

Sources within the family on Saturday revealed that her kidnappers have issued threat to inflate the amount if the requested sum is not paid to them, before Sunday midnight.

A source in the family also said her kidnappers have spoken to the family in the Yoruba language through mobile phone on Thursday night and informed them of their demand before she can be released.

Mrs Funke Ayodele was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in front of her house around Baptist Church, adjacent to Dunamis church on Ganaja-Lokoja Road on Wednesday night after leaving her shop.

A source in the family said four armed hoodlums attacked, moved her out from her car and whisked her away to an unknown place around 9 pm on that day.

The call of the kidnappers have made the family restless, as the victim was reported to be a patient of chronic high blood seizure.

The family has alleged that unknown hoodlums have been trailing her for days before they eventually kidnapped her on Wednesday night.

SP William Ovye-Aya, the spokesperson of the Kogi State Police Command, did not respond to his calls and text messages when he was communicated to confirm the incident.
