The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has apprehended a woman, Omoseyin Esther, allegedly selling new naira notes on social media.
The woman identified as Simisola of Lala on Twitter was arrested for selling new naira notes for members of the public on social media.
This came following an intelligence report received about the woman which assisted her arrest by operatives of the ICPC.
The Informant247 gathered that the woman capitalized on the scarcity of the new naira notes to sell the new notes to members of the public.
The spokesperson of the ICPC, Azuka Ogugua said, “It is believed she is in collusion with key elements in the financial services sector diverting the newly released notes away from banking halls and payment channels into a “ black market”
The spokesman of the agency also revealed that the women was still in the net of the ICPC and assisting the Commission with needed information about the criminal trading of the currency of the country.
“The action is in furtherance of the collaboration between CBN ICPC and EFCC in implementing the new cashless policy and naira redesign”, she said.
