The Unilorin Emirates Alumni Association has charged the University of Ilorin’s Governing Council to be transparent and fair in the selection of a new Vice Chancellor for the citadel of learning.
This was revealed in a letter signed by the Executive President, Sheikh Yahya Lukman Akewushola and the Publicity Secretary, Comrade Abdullahi Isiaq Toyin.
According to the letter written to the chairman of the governing Council, it is incumbent upon the council to be Just in their dealings and not allow interference from individuals, premised upon self interest, both within and outside the system, which will further polarize the entire process.
The union reiterated that the new Vice Chancellor is expected to provide quality leadership for the institution in order to propel it to greater heights, thus the need to select the best among those who have expressed interest in the position.
The union prayed to God to guide the council in their task of selecting a charismatic, resourceful and appropriate Vice Chancellor for the institution.
The union, however, urged aspirants and other stakeholders to work together and provide the necessary support for the council’s smooth selection process.
