UNICAL investigates death of student in school medical centre

The authority of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) was set to probe the death of an undergraduate.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi ordered the Medical Board of the school to produce its report on or before February 2, 2023.

The Informant247 recalls that Precious Agini, a 300-level student of the Department of Library and Information Science, lost his life, January 28, 2023 at the Medical Centre of the institution.

While confirming the incident, the Registrar of the institution, Gabriel Egbe on Sunday revealed that school cherishes the lives of its students and was sad about the death of one of them.

Egbe said the board will investigate what triggered the incident.

“The Board is also expected to establish the veracity or otherwise of allegations of carelessness or negligence of duty and advise on how to avoid a reoccurrence,” Egbe added.
