The Government of the United Kingdom has publicized the names of at least 56 Nigerian persons who lost their lives in the country but their properties including estates have not been claimed.
According to Business Day, the names were enlisted on the UK government’s Treasury Solicitor website.
The report revealed that the UK government said by December 2022, some of the assets belonging to these people who lost their lives in the country within the last 30 years, would be forfeited.
One of the victims, who happens to be the oldest among them, Mark Nwogo, was reported to have been given birth to in Delta State Nigeria but gave up the ghost on December 9, 1992, in the UK.
Also a victim was one Victor Adedapo Olufemi Fani-Kayode who was reported to have lost his life on August 15, 2001, in Birmingham.
Arbel Aai’Lotta’Qua Abouarh, another Nigerian, gave up the ghost on February 5, 1998, in Chiswick, London with assets yet unclaimed.
