Barcelona slumped to a 1-0 defeat at Hamburg as Danylo Sikan’s header gave Shakhtar Donetsk a win against LaLiga in their Champions League Group H clash on Tuesday

It was a disappointing outing for the catalans in their return to UCL and will now have to overcome a delay to their qualifications for the next round of the European elite league

Having won their first three games in the competition, Barca needed only one point to secure a place in the last 16 with two games remaining but now have to consolidate their terms on the log possibly in their next game .

22-year-old Sikan gave the Ukrainian side a shocking lead in the 40th minute against the visitors who apparently dominated possession throughout the match. It was Shakhtar second win of the group stage and such might bolster the team in their quest for the Round of 16 ticket .

However, a determined Shakhtar held their ground against some late pressure to grab the three points, with Barca four substitutions in the final quarter leaving them a huge task to do.

Barcelona remain top of Group H with nine points from four games, three ahead of Porto and Shakhtar.
