Two policemen killed as suspected Lakurawa terrorists attack Kebbi community

No fewer than two police officers have been reported dead, while over 200 cows were rustled after gunmen suspected to be members of the Lakurawa terrorist group reportedly launched a deadly attack on Natsini village in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday around 11 p.m., when more than 50 armed attackers on motorcycles stormed the village, targeting a police checkpoint along the Augie/Kangiwa road and overpowering the officers stationed there before raiding a nearby ranch for cattle.

According to locals, the stolen cows belonged to a prominent civil servant in the area, Lawali Black. A witness, Abubakar Augie, shared his account: “The attackers were many, riding motorcycles. After taking out the policemen, they moved to the ranch and rustled the cows.”

The chairman of Argungu Local Government, Aliyu Gulma, confirmed the attack and stated that the council had convened a security meeting to address the situation. He added that the state government had ordered security forces to track the perpetrators and recover the stolen livestock.

Meanwhile, there is no official statement from the security operatives as of the time of filing this report.
