Two persons shot dead as APC primary turns bloody in Lagos

At least two persons have been reported dead as primary election resulted to confrontation in Lagos state.

This came after violence engulfed the venue of House of Assembly primary of the ruling, All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Alimosho area of Lagos.

The victims were identified as Muftau Ogunlaye and Suraju Dauda.

It was reported that apart from the deceased victims, many others sustained injuries.

In one of the viral videos of the incident, which happened on Friday, a number of people were seen running for their lives amidst gunshots.

In another video, a number of persons could be seen around a bloodied man who appeared lifeless.

Sources said “four persons were killed” but police said there were two fatalities.

The spokesperson of the police in the state, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, told newsmen, that violence engulfed the venue of the primary after the result of the election was announced.

He said, “Two persons were killed. They were Muftau Ogunlaye, 44, and Suraju Dauda, 42. No arrest has been made yet. A primary election was being held in the area. After the announcement of the result, they started fighting.”
