The Jigawa State Police Command has said that at least two persons were killed and five persons were injured in two different clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the state.
The Spokesman of the command, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement released to newsmen on Tuesday.
He said the incident occurred in Taura and Malam-Madori local government areas.
According to the statement, “On 23/12/2021 at about 1330hrs the village head of Tofa in Taura Local Government Area reported to police that there was a clash between a farmer and a herdsman in his village.
“As a result, a 21-year-old Shu’aibu Nasiru of Tofa village was stabbed with a sharp object suspected to be a knife on his left chest in his farmland and died instantly.”
He revealed that another incident happened at Gandun Galadima in the Malam Local Government Area.
Adam confirmed that as a result of the incident, five persons sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to Hadejia General Hospital for medical attention.
He added that a 30-year-old Yakubu Saleh of Gandun Sarki was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at the hospital.
The spokesman said five suspects were arrested in connection to the case, adding that they would be charged to court when investigation is concluded.
