Truck crushes father, mother, baby in Ogun
A speeding truck has claimed the lives of a man, his wife and their baby while travelling on a motorcycle in Ogun State.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Corps, confirmed the incident.
TRACE spokesman, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, disclosed that the accident happened on Wednesday at Ijebu-Ode, along the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode highway, around 9:05pm.
He said the driver of the truck had lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speeding, thereby crushing the family, adding that the truck driver failed to stop after killing the victims.
It was learnt that some commercial motorcyclists who saw the incident went after the vehicle and caught up with the driver in front of a hotel, along Oru-Ago Iwoye Road.
It was gathered that the truck driver was said to have been beaten by the angry mob before he was later handed over to the police at Igbeba Police Motor Traffic Division and the trunk of the truck was also set on fire by the okada riders and some youths.
Akinbiyi said that the bodies of the victims were deposited at the General Hospital in Ijebu-Ode.
