Tricycle operators arrested for assaulting KWARTMA personnel in Ilorin

The Kwara State Police Command, on Thursday, arrested two commercial tricycle operators, who allegedly mobilised hoodlums to attack the patrol team of the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority at Ahmadu Bello way in Ilorin.

THE INFORMANT247 learnt that the operators had allegedly mobilised some hoodlums to attack some KWARTMA officers after they were stopped for driving against the traffic.

A statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of the Agency reads in part, “The two could not give any cogent reason for their actions during police interrogation. They had been charged to court by the police for criminal conspiracy and obstruction of public servant on duty.

“The Chief Executive Officer of the Authority Alh. Yekeen Tunde Bello in his reaction to the incident expressed his displeasure and warned that the State Government directives on the No Parking along Ahmadu Bello Way and Challenge Area for all Vehicles remains.

“He implored members of the public especially traffickers stakeholders to cooperate with the staff of Authority while on their duties in order to ensure free-flow of traffic, safety of road users and economic prosperity of the state.”
