Justice Huruna Mshelia-led three-man panel of the Sokoto Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, on Saturday, dismissed the petition filed against the victory of Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sa’idu Umar, in the March 18 election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Aliyu, who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as winner of the election,
Unsatisfied with the result, Umar challenged Governor Aliyu’s victory on the grounds of his deputy qualification and electoral fraud.
However, in its ruling, Justice Huruna Mshelia said the petitioner could prove the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.
