A petition has been filed to the commissioner of Police Kwara State Command on behalf of Emir of Ilorin, Alh Ibrahim Zulu Gambari against one Usman Abdulganiyu Arowolo of Araromi Village and Mukaila Adeoti Pasa of Pass Village via Eyenkonrin over alleged trespass to his landed properties at the opposite side of Crown Hill University Complex, Eyenkonrin/Ballah Road.
According to the Police First Information Reports; Arowolo and Pasa leased the land to tipper drivers to use as refused dump.
The two were challenged by Vigilantes, Waheed Suleiman and Yusuf Abdulkadir, who were assigned to keep watched over the property, the duo chased the Vigilantes away with cutlass and deflates the motorcycle’s tyres.
The Informant247 futher investigation reveals that Arowolo and Pasa are mere supervisors of the land that belongs to a former Senator representing Oyo Central, Sen. Ayo Adeseun which shares boundary with Emir’s land. The issue of boundary has been the major cause of the dispute.
According to National Pilot news; “the duo were dragged before Magistrate Jibrin Salihu for Criminal Conspiracy , Criminal Trespass and Criminal Intimidation contrary to Sections 97,348 and 397 of Penal Code law.
“The prosecutor, Adewumi Johnson said, investigation is ongoing on the matter and therefore prayed to court to give another date.
“Counsel to the defendants, Taofiq Olateju said he has no objection to the adjournment but however asked for the bail of the defendants.
“He said the offences with which the defendants were charged with are
ordinarily bailable. Also that the defendants have been enjoying police bail therefore will not jump bail if granted.
“In his reaction, the prosecutor, Johnson said, bail is at the discretion of the court. Citing section 397(B) of the penal code law, Johnson added that the offence is not ordinarily bailable as the FIR informed the court that the vigilante were chased away with a cutlass.
“He however prayed the court to refuse the bail of the defendants as their appearance before the court may not be ascertained if granted
bail.
“In his ruling, Salihu granted the defendants bail to sum of N300,000.00 each and 2 sureties each in 1 must be the head of the family and the other must be residing within the jurisdiction of the court, while the case has been adjourned to 16th July, 2019′.
