Trader bags 6 months imprisonment for stealing turkeys

A court in Abuja, on Wednesday, sentenced a trader, Jamilu Abdullahi, 20, to six months imprisonment for stealing two turkeys worth N21,000.

Abdullahi of Madalla, Niger State has been arraigned by the police, on a count charge of theft.

The Judge, Mr. Sulyman Ola, therefore gave the convict six months with an option of a fine of N20,000.

The judge also directed him to pay N21,000 as compensation to the complainant.

The prosecutor, Mr. Chinedu Ogada, has earlier informed the court that the complainant, Akor Anyebe, had reported the matter at the Zuba Police Station on April 2.

He said Ogada had also told the police on the same date that the convict entered his house and went away with two turkeys worth N21,000.

Ogada said that the convict had confessed to the crime while being interrogated, but the effort to regain the turkeys failed.
