ASUU: NANS to shut down Yola airport Friday over lingering strike
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), says it will on Friday shut the Yola International Airport in Adamawa State over the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The Zone E chapter of NANS further said it will be in line with NANS nationwide ‘Occupy The Airport’ protest over the prolonged ASUU strike.
Strike: ASUU reaches agreement with Reps, awaits President Buhari’s approval
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) says it has reached a new agreement with the leadership of the House of Representatives on Tuesday after four hours of meeting at the National Assembly in Abuja.
The agreement is however subject to the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, who is currently at the United Nations General Assembly meeting at the UN.
Acting CJN, Justice Ariwoola to face Nigerian Senators for screening, Wednesday
Justice Olukayode Lateef Ariwoola, the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, will be screened and his fate decided on Wednesday, September 21 by the Senate.
The Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, declared on Tuesday in plenary, the screening of Justice Ariwoola by the Senate.
Lawan appoint new senate Committees’ heads
Senate President Ahmad Lawan has appointed the immediate former leader of the Senate, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (PDP Kebbi North), as the new Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.
The position became vacant after Senator Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa West) was elected national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in March.

Nigeria’s public debt stock hits N42trn: official
Nigeria’s total public debt stock, which was N41.60 trillion (100.07 billion dollars) in March rose to N42.84 trillion (103.31 billion dollars) by June, the Debt Management Office (DMO) said on Tuesday.
The total debt represents the domestic and external debt stocks of the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), the 36 State Governments and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to a statement obtained from DMO’s website.
Armed gang kills at least 3 in central Nigeria
An armed gang killed at least 3 people in an attack on a village in central Nigerian state of Benue, locals and police said on Tuesday.
Locals told newsmen that the incident, which occurred on Sunday night at Tse Ngban village Guma local government area, caused the villagers to desert their homes.
