Tobi Amusan becomes Glo Ambassador
Nigeria Queen of Track, Tobi Amusan has been unveiled by Telecommunications giant, Globacom, as its Brand Ambassador.
The 100 meters World record holder, who also recently received a National Award of Officer of the Order of the Niger(OON) from President Muhammadu Buhari was unveiled in Lagos on Thursday.
Expressing her delight over the opportunity to become one of the faces of the brand, she promised to use her goodwill to inspire younger generation.
“It is a proud day for me and I am grateful to God, m delighted to be associated with his illustrious company because I have always admired the company and I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with them.” she said.
“Globacom as we all know has a long history of rewarding excellence and empowering Nigerians and today I am happy to join the long list of sports stars like Anthony Joshua, Mikel Obi, Emmanuel Emenike, Osaze Odemwingie and many more.”
Recall that the Ijebu-Ode born athletes became the first Nigerian to win a gold medal in 100 metres hurdles at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon and set a new world record of 12.12 seconds in the semifinal with 12.06 seconds in the final to take the gold medal.
She was also able to defend her African and commonwealth titles in 2018 and 2022 in the 100m hurdles event, becoming a two-time African Games champion in the event.
‘As a Glo ambassador, I hope to mentor and inspire young people to achieve their goals. Once again I am happy to be associated with Glo and to be its brand ambassador. Said Amusan who also recently scooped gold in 100m hurdles at the Zurich Diamond League in 12.29 seconds.
Globacom’s Regional Manager, Sales, Lagos, Lawrence Odediran, noted that the decision to make Amusan ambassador was not to only reward her for her achievement but to enhance the growth of sports in Nigeria while encouraging the younger generation that they should remained focused and determined in the pursuit of their careers.
