Tinubu’s fairness deserves 90% Southeast votes, says Umahi
Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has asserted that President Bola Tinubu’s equitable distribution of road infrastructure warrants 90% of the Southeast’s votes in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Umahi made this statement in response to social media claims alleging that the Southeast is being marginalized in infrastructure projects.
He emphasized that President Tinubu is working diligently to promote national unity and instill hope among Nigerians through fair infrastructural development. “Only those who open their eyes will see the light of change in Nigeria,” he remarked.
He detailed that President Tinubu’s administration is undertaking four legacy projects across the six geopolitical zones, with the Southeast included in the significant Cross River-Ebonyi-Benue-Kogi-Nasarawa-Abuja corridor project, which spans 465 km.
Umahi disclosed that ₦445.8 billion has already been allocated for this project, demonstrating serious government commitment.
Umahi also addressed misleading narratives surrounding the government’s work, urging clarity and correction: “Where was the writer when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR decided to treat the South East fairly regarding road infrastructure like other regions?” He reiterated that many projects abandoned since 2013 have been revived and are currently progressing.
Highlighting key infrastructure endeavors, he mentioned the ongoing work on the 2nd Niger Bridge access roads and significant highway improvements which are crucial for regional development.
In closing, Umahi called upon the Southeast population to support President Tinubu, stating, “Mr. President must have the votes of the South East.” He encouraged unity and outreach to dispel misinformation, promoting a vision of mutual support and growth for the region.
