Tinubu and Wike

Tinubu, Wike meet over FCT building collapse

Following the recent building collapse, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, met behind closed doors at Aso RockVilla, Abuja.

It was gathered that the reason behind the meeting was undisclosed, but it may not be unconnected with the building collapse in Abuja on Wednesday, which claimed the lives of two persons while 37 others were injured.

The Informant247 had earlier reported that the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Thursday, when he visited the incident scene, promised that his administration would foot the medical bills of the Garki building collapse victims.

It would be recalled that in the late hours of Wednesday, a heavy downpour caused a collapse of the building of a two-story shopping plaza in the Garki area of Abuja

WiOlusade Adesola, FCTA permanent secretary, described the incident as unfortunate, more so with the death of two persons.

Wike, after that, instructed Adesola to make necessary arrangements to pay the medical bills of the 35 rescued victims.

“It is quite unfortunate that we woke up this morning to hear alarming news,” he said.

“I am grateful to all rescue agencies, especially NEMA. Unfortunately, two people are dead.

“I will speak to the permanent secretary to make sure we pay the hospital bills of those rescued, and that should be done immediately.”
