The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has told the presidential election petition court that the president elect Senator Bola Tinubu ought not to contest the February 25 presidential election.
He said the president elect possesses dual citizenship of Nigeria and Guinea and therefore does not have the right to contest the presidential election, in the first place.
He made this revelation while reacting to the preliminary objection filed by the president elect before the election tribunal in Abuja.
The Informant247 observes that there have been speculations that the president elect possesses Guinean citizenship, in addition to his Nigeria’s citizenship.
Based on the allegation, there have been controversies over the qualification of the president elect to contest the presidential election in the first place.
Reacting to the development, Atiku through his lead counsel, Chris Uche said the president elect has “demonstrated inconsistency as to his actual date of birth, secondary schools he attended (Government College Ibadan); his state of origin, gender, actual name; certificates evidencing universities attended (Chicago State University)”.
He said the president elect was not fit to lead Nigeria considering his indictment for drug related issues in the United States US, which made him lose a sum of $460,000 as a compromise agreement.
The presidential candidate of the PDP said the president elect did not get 25 percent of the votes in the federal capital territory FCT.
He said the declaration of the president elect as the winner was “undue, unlawful and invalid.”
