The new Senate President Godswill Akpabio and chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State are in the meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Abuja.
This is coming after Akpabio emerged as the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly on Tuesday. .
Although Akpabio arrived earlier, our correspondent spotted Uzodinma entering the president’s office complex at about 12:30 pm Tuesday.
It could be recalled that the Imo State Governor, on Monday, chaired a “small technical committee to help coordinate the process of 10th NASS inauguration” giving hope of a landslide victory for the Akpabio.
The voting in the election of a new Senate President had commenced before 09:00 am with Akpabio and former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator-elect Abdul’aziz Yari, going toe to toe.
It was gathered that after a quick recess, Sani Tambuwal, the Clerk of the National Assembly, declared Akpabio as the Senate President after he garnered 63 votes to defeat his closest rival, Abdulaziz Yari who polled 46 votes.
