Tinubu arrives Nigeria after long vacation abroad
The Nigeria’s President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to the country after spending one month abroad.
The informant247 recalls that Tinubu left the country for Paris, the capital city of France, on 22nd of March, 2023 to rest while getting ready for his May 29 swearing in ceremony.
He was expected to travel to Saudi Arabia from Paris to take part in lesser Hajj (Umrah).
This was revealed in a statement released by his media aide, Tunde Rahman, on Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
He added that the newly elected president traveled out of the country for vacation following a very exhaustive election activity.
Tinubu also ordered his senior aides and campaign agents to proceed on a short rest.
“President-elect, Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has travelled abroad to rest and plan his transition programme ahead of May 29, 2023 inauguration,” Rahman added.
Meanwhile, The Informant247 learned that Tinubu got to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Monday afternoon.
However, different specifications have trailed the journey of the president-elect, as some said that the former Lagos State Governor travelled on health ground.
The Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress APC debunked speculations that the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was rushed abroad for medical treatment.
The Informant247 gathered that this is not the first time the president-elect would be rumoured to have been rushed abroad for treatment.
The APC PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, while reacting to the news of Tinubu’s illness on Wednesday, denied the allegation, saying his principal only went to rest abroad.
Onanuga also stated that Tinubu will use the opportunity of vacation to go for Umrah (lesser Hajj) after observing the annual Muslim fast.
He said, “Which Asiwaju is ill. Was he not seen when he went to cast his vote? Does he look like a sick man? The man just travelled on vacation. He went to take a rest. I think he wants to use the opportunity to observe Ramadan outside the country and move to Umrah from there before returning to Nigeria.
“This man has been on the move since last year and, sincerely, deserves all the rest he can get. His office will soon issue a statement.”
The Chief spokesman for the APC PCC, Festus Keyamo, also shared Onanuga’s position on the issue, saying people spreading the rumour were those who are still nursing their wounds after losing out in the election.
“Please help us tell those flying the news around that the election has ended. What they are doing now is campaigning after the election. They should leave Asiwaju alone. He deserves some rest after the election,” he said.
Asked which country Tinubu visited for his vacation, Keyamo claimed that he cannot immediately confirm as of the time of reporting.
He stated, “I cannot confirm. But all I can tell you is that Asiwaju is hale and hearty.”
