Tinubu appoints IBB’s son, others to lead govt agencies
Nigerian President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Muhammad Babangida, the son of former military dictator Ibrahim Babangida, as the Chairman of the revamped Bank of Agriculture.
According to a statement on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Muhammad Babangida, 53, brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, holding a degree in Business Administration, as well as a Master’s in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Switzerland.
He also possesses valuable expertise through an Executive Program on Corporate Governance which he completed at Harvard Business School in 2002.
In tandem with this appointment, the President also announced several other significant leadership roles within federal agencies:
- Lydia Kalat Musa (Kaduna): Chairman, Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority
- Jamilu Wada Aliyu (Kano): Chairman, National Educational Research and Development Council
- Yahuza Ado Inuwa (Kano): Chairman, Standard Organisation of Nigeria
- Sanusi Musa (SAN) (Kano): Chairman, Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution
- Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu (Sokoto): Director General, Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa
- Sanusi Garba Rikiji (Zamfara): Director General, Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations
- Mrs. Tomi Somefun (Oyo): Managing Director, National Hydro-Electric Power Areas Development Commission
- Dr. Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria (Kaduna): Executive Director, Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission
These appointments reflect the current administration’s efforts to strategically position capable individuals in key sectors to drive growth and development in Nigeria.
