The newly elected president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appealed to other candidates who lost out in the election to join hands together with him to build the country.
Tinubu gave the remarks while delivering his acceptance speech in the early hours Wednesday after his declaration as the winner of the poll by INEC.
The former Lagos State governor was declared winner of the 2023 general elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu in the early hours of Wednesday.
Tinubu polled the highest number of votes, 8,794,726, almost two million votes more than his closest challenger — former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 6,984,520 votes.
The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, finished third in the race with 6,101,533 while Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former Kano State Governor and candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), finished fourth, with 1,496,687 votes
“I take this opportunity again to appeal to my fellow contestants to team up together. It’s the only nation we have. It’s one country that we must build together. We work together to put broken pieces together work for the unity, happiness and Harmony of this (sic) country.
Let’s collaborate to create a symphony that will make the rhythm of music and prosperity and history of our country” he said
