Three months after suspension, Ningi resumes plenary
Senator representing Bauchi Central Abdul Ningi (PDP) on Tuesday resumed plenary after being recalled from his suspension.
The Informant247 reports that Ningi was handed a three-month suspension for grating an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, where he said that N3.7 trillion in the 2024 budget was not tied to any projects or location.
Meanwhile, the Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro (PDP, Benue South), had on Tuesday last week pleaded with Senators to recall Ningi, who had already spent 75 days on suspension. Moro’s prayer was granted.
However, on Tuesday, Senator Ningi was among the first set of Senators and House of Representatives members to arrive at the National Assembly for plenary; after arriving at the National Assembly with other Senators, including Suleiman Kawu (NNPP, Kano South), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (PDP, Sokoto South) and many others.
As a result of his suspension, Ningi lost his position as chairman of the Senate Committee on National Identity and Population.
He was also stripped of his position as Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum.
